The Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ) forms the backbone of the High Tatras' transport network. Electric trains connect Poprad, Starý Smokovec, Štrbské Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica, stopping at many stations such as Vyšné Hágy or Nový Smokovec. Modern trainsets offer seating, air conditioning, bicycle and ski racks; access is barrier-free. The service is supplemented by rack-and-pinion hybrid vehicles that run to Štrba.
