Štrbské pleso is the second largest Tatra lake, formed by glacial melting. It is located at an altitude of 1 346 m, has an area of almost 20 ha and a maximum depth of approximately 20 m. It has no inlet or outlet and is frozen for more than 150 days a year. The TEŽ electric railway and an access road lead to the lake, and in summer walks, boating and Nordic walking are popular.
